I have been following the blog InvestSense, written by a full time financial planner and investment adviser, and an attorney, for a few years now. I find his articles refreshingly frank, helpful, non-self promoting, educational and intelligent- cutting through much of the baloney the investment consumer stumbles upon in the media or from some firms. I either agree with him about 90% of the time, or he thoughtfully challenges my thinking.
Here are a few of his most recent articles, that I thought were spot on and very helpful:
- Baron’s Top Advisers debunking article is helpful, because you will hear adviser and firms promoting their Baron’s rating particularly on the radio.
- Common sense information about account management. This article doesn’t cover investment tips per se’, but hits on many of the administrative, product, commission and other issues that could cost you dearly. This article will tell you about copies you need to keep, signing documents, discretionary powers, account statements and correspondence, fiduciary capacity, and many other issues.
- “Humble Arithmetic,” Prudence, and Successful Investing: Investment arithmetic discussion to help you understand investment returns, fees and indices.
- Real wealth, accumulation, protection/preservation and distribution.
