Kent E. Irwin | ChFC, CLU, CAP

Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer

For more than 30 years, Kent Irwin has helped countless families and small businesses grow and protect their wealth. Upon graduating from The Ohio State University, Kent has gone on to build an extensive career in the financial services industry. He has held 5 security licenses and earned the following designations:

  • Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)
  • Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP)

Professional Background

Mr. Irwin’s career began in private practice, where he worked for 12 years as a financial advisor for families and small businesses. This experience led to a term as the Vice President in the trust, investment, and marketing departments of a leading financial institution.

Kent also served as an Advanced Markets Consultant with Nationwide Financial® serving on a team of attorneys, accountants and financial planning experts to support advanced planning needs . While at Nationwide, Kent also participated in software, marketing and product development. Most recently, Kent was a Vice President fee-only financial planning firm in Columbus Ohio.

In addition to leading eFinPLAN, Kent also serves as the Financial Director at Vineyard Columbus. In this role, Kent provides financial counseling and teaching to people with various financial needs.

Associations, Teachings, and Writings

Kent is a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals, has served on the board for the Columbus Ohio Chapter and a member of the Worthington (OH) Estate Planning Council.

Kent has previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Hondros College (Columbus, OH) where he taught financial classes and wrote courses on insurance, securities, and various financial topics. He also authored a textbook on life insurance licensing for use in the college’s course work, and written articles for Advisor Today, The National Underwriter, Business First of Columbus, and Accounting Today.

Laura D. Irwin

Co-Founder, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer & Operations Manager

Laura believes in people – plain and simple. Her contagious personality has driven her to develop a passion to help people live frugally. Backed by years of experience working for the largest accounting firm in Ohio, she knows exactly what it takes to save money and invest wisely.

Professional Background

Laura holds a BA in communications from The Ohio State University. She has worked in a variety of professional roles – everything from marketing to project management – until she found her passion as a stay-at-home mom. While raising her children, Laura began to study her family’s household expenditures focusing on ways they could save every dime.  Her frugality paid off – over the years, Laura has saved her family thousands of dollars on their yearly budget. Today, Laura is the Vice President of eFinPLAN and spends time teaching financial stewardship classes at her local community center.

Teachings and Writings

Laura takes a unique, personal approach to teaching individuals and couples money management and money saving techniques. Her classes include a seminar called “Savings Around the House,” in which she figuratively walks class participants through each room of the house in order to point out ways they can save money with simple decisions. She also teaches a class on coupon-ing, where she focuses on helping young and old attendants develop money-saving techniques for their retail expenses.
